Power Crisis and the Law of In- Laws

SUBJECT: Power Crisis and The Law of In-Laws

All that is needed to solve the present energy crisis is a good pair of wire cutters having good insulated handles, and a heart of steel. Just visit the site of a power bill defaulter, cut off the the wires, hand him over the bill, and plainly tell him to deposite it in the bank if he wants to get his connection restored. No law and no jail. The utility company employee who is to perform this task is advised not to look towards the defaulter, especially in his eyes, because the defaulter, of all the people in the world, might be his own brother, or even worse, his brother in law (I mean both types)! Here, I want to announce the discovery of yet a fundamental law of, not nature, but our nature, I mean the Law of in-Laws (I am surely not going to get a Nobel Prize for it). This law states that as long as there are brothers and brothers' in-law in a country, the country will have load shedding.

Though Prime Minister's ancestors have been dealing with steel for ages but his heart seems to be totally uncontaminated by the stuff. It is soft, kind, confused and a bit afraid of something unknown. For the last seven months PM has shown no resolve to to deal with power stealing Mafia even when he knows that electric power worth Rs. 250 billion is being stolen annually. Perhaps he has been frozen to inaction by the Law of in-Laws.

PM wants new tough laws against Power Stealers and Defaulters. But the new tough law , like all Pakistani laws, will be swamped by the most fundamental law, the law of in-laws. The new tough laws against theft of electric power, just like the present laws, will never be used against the elite, the above the law, then in-law classes rather, they will be used by the minions of Government against poor, defenseless and below the law citizens to extract bribes. This will only enhance the Thana Culture his quite steely younger brother, I mean the Khadim-e- Aala, wants to eliminate. The new laws would surely, not do any harm to in-laws of the Government.

The Council of Common (in-laws) Interests is also taking interest in the solution of energy crisis. It has obviously failed to arrive at a consensus about energy crisis. This is because Punjab and Sindh are ruled by in-laws, while Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtoonkwa are ruled by out-laws!

Government of in-laws, by the in-laws, and for the in-laws. It is democracy in law. It is the best revenge (of in-laws).
